Home Modifications
Our occupational therapists assess and document minor and major home modifications for people with a range of disabilities and medical conditions. Modifications are tailored to the individual, the home and the way the two work together.

How the process works
- An in-home consultation, reviewing the home, understanding the needs related to your condition or disability, and hearing your own preferences for how the space should work.
- A meeting at the home with a builder or architect, to propose goals and plans.
- Report writing setting out findings and proposals. Floor plans, detailed diagrams and photographs are woven through the OT documentation to evidence the recommendation.
Funding
The OT component is generally billed at the NDIS hourly rate and we keep those costs transparent and open to discussion. Complex home modification reports typically involve ten to fifteen hours of OT time. The cost of the modification work itself depends on the builder or service provider. We work with a range of providers, and while you can express a preference, NDIS internal guidelines need to be considered.

Common questions
What counts as a minor home modification?
Smaller changes that do not alter the structure of the home, such as grab rails, tap alterations, a bidet installation or a portable ramp. Major modifications change the building itself, for example widening doorways, a bathroom rebuild or a platform lift.
What does the process involve?
An in-home consultation reviewing the home and your needs and preferences, a site meeting with a builder or architect to agree goals and plans, then a report with floor plans, diagrams, photographs and OT documentation to support the funding application.
